Nomad Insights

@0xtkgshn: nomad is quite difficult. For example, even if you are a Japanese national and register for Global Entry via the Japanese embassy for a moment, it will be very easy to enter and leave the country if you do it at that time, or if you have contracted Google Fi and CLEAR while in the United States, it will be much easier, or if you use AMEX cards, you can transfer Credit Score to US Amex... If you plan to stay for more than 3 months, I think there is an option to buy a used Aeron Chair or something like that in that place. If you choose one with a high resale value, you can live quite comfortably. Is this still the same opinion now? tkgshn.icon*3
Displays are relatively easy to drop in price compared to chairs, so I'd like to bring them if possible, but...
Since entering high school in 2018, I have moved from Osaka to Kagawa to Osaka to Shibuya Higashi to Ebisu to Shibuya Higashi to Meguro to Osaka to Kyoto to New York, and my My Number Card address field has reached its limit and I had to update it. I want to summarize the knowledge of nomads.
Basic ID-related information
If you have a My Number Card, it is easy to transfer your resident registration if you are in Japan. Basically, it is recommended to keep it up to date so that you can easily receive voting, coronavirus vaccine, and other social services. In New York, you can obtain Banks in the United States to serve as your ID instead of a passport.
However, if you want to create one after coming to the United States, I recommend bank of America. If you have the necessary documents, you can open an account on the day of your appointment.
This is faster and recommended.
Most importantly, if you are a student, you have a Students Card and they will do various things for you during orientation, so you can rely on that. AMEX credit card for immigrants to the United States
However, most require SSN (this may be possible to apply for if you are F-1). B-1 & under 21 may not be able to get a credit card in principle.? Mobile phone line
Address Related
Regarding corporations, if the address of the officers changes, the corporation has to update it, but it is not a high priority. If you can use the VC's address, it is basically better because it is troublesome to include family homes in documents.
When you move, don't forget to update your address with e-Tenkyu. Also, update the address of services like Amazon and Uber Eats. If you forget to do this, they may be forwarded to another address. Things to Consider
Basically, you need to reduce the number of items you bring. The idea is to move with one backpack and one suitcase, so it is important to dispose of your items before the move.
If you plan to stay for more than three months, it is recommended that you follow the above steps. For example, if you plan to stay longer, buy an Aeron Chair or monitor, sell it or transfer it before you leave, and obtain a new one at your next destination. It is generally a good idea to buy things with resale value. Clothing
Clothing is basically bulky. Since the clothing you need changes depending on the season or your location, you cannot simply carry everything with you. Here are some practices that I find effective:
- You only need one down coat. I think it's okay to use something that can withstand up to about -10°C.
- 2023/2/3 Comment: But the versatility decreases. tkgshn.icon*2 There seem to be stores all over the world, so I think they will provide maintenance if you have any trouble.
This is one of the things I'm glad I bought in 2022 tkgshn.icon*2
I think it's okay to take home any Swag you get at conferences or events if you have extra space in your luggage. https://gyazo.com/6bc886e7d8d93282d472c0b54d641d5f
You can give them to people who didn't attend the event, or just keep them in case you don't have anything to wear and need something to wear.
Give them away if you can.
Shoes:
For rain, mud, and snow: I didn't really feel the need for this when I was in Japan, but since moving to NY this year and experiencing extreme cold, I bought AERIOS AR MID GTX.] https://gyazo.com/5b1f163e10385995bb50514b8c0da189 https://gyazo.com/62815cc41ae1b7372b71fa62aa1f7aea
Since it's Gore-Tex, it's waterproof and can handle snow. I think there's no place where this won't work. The downside is that it feels like "boots," and if you're going outside, you definitely need these, but I feel like it's too much to wear them just to go a little way. #Thinking about the best clothes in rainy cities Everyday sneakers:
I'm still not sure what to do.

You definitely need sandals in the summer.
https://gyazo.com/cdda5f2006b3fc57fed8d61572c641c9
These are great because they don't slip and you can run in them if you need to. I'll be okay with these all summer.
I bought SUBU which is like a down jacket for your feet. https://gyazo.com/6939f6210419b531323d0054d6ef8c77
It might be good.
Especially since the houses in America right now don't require you to take off your shoes, sandals are necessary.
It's okay even if you go out a little bit with this.
Not very versatile.

Even if the weather is bad and there is luggage, I think I'll use Uber between the base and the airport.Previous companies, interviews and appearances related to oneself.icon This is heavy and not versatile.
There isn't any.
Just put as much as you can in your pockets.
There's a Walkie Pen inside that can be used when writing customs documents and the like, and I use it frequently enough that I think it's acceptable at this size, so I recommend buying it.tkgshn.icon*3 OpalC1
